Monster Energy Off Road Team Race From Vegas To Reno

The Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno event in the longest off-road race in America; a 550 mile, one-day race through mountains, deserts, dry lake beds and some of the most high-speed and treacherous off-road conditions a driver could experience.

The event, which took place earlier in August, had more than 300 competitors and was open to Class 1400 Trick Trucks, ProTrucks, Jeeps, Baja Buggies, UTVs, Quad and Enduro bikes and what looks like off-road golf carts (imagine driving one of those for 550 miles in one day!)

Needless to say, the Monster Energy Off-Road Team wanted a piece of the action and entered several vehicles in the BITD: Vegas to Reno. Luckily, they were kind enough to record some of the action from their testing sessions until the point where the teams finally passed the finish line.

Ricky Carmichael Reveals 2012 Monster Energy Cup Track

So, with the exciting and unpredictable MXoN done and dusted (hands up who lost some bets over the weekend?) the next big thing on the MX calendar is the Monster Energy Cup race on 20th October.

For those of you who dont know already, the Monster Energy Cup is an event with a quarter of million winners prize and the potential to win a bonus $1 million for coming first in all three races - enough to attract some of the biggest names in motocross. Including, amongst many others, the highly anticipated return of Chad Reed, who will be riding competitively for the first time since his Supercross accident in February .

What also makes the event exciting is the fact that the course has been designed with input than the GOAT himself, Ricky Carmichael.

The Monster Energy Cup is designed around a racing format, featuring a three-stage, 30-lap main event. The new format incorporates three main events, where riders will take part in three races. The event will feature a one-class format, offering riders the option of the bike of their choice, including 250-450cc four strokes or 125cc and 250cc two strokes.

The huge, unique, hybrid track will consist of supercross/motocross terrain and will have a motocross-style influence, making it unlike any other stadium race in the world. Features of the circuit include split starting lines, a huge, banked Talladega turn and a controversial, time-sapping Joker lane, which every rider must use at least once.

With a million bucks on the line, a track unlike any other and confirmed riders including Villopoto, Dungey, Barcia, Roczen, Reed, Musquin, Windham and more, the Monster Energy Cup certainly has all the ingredients for some fun...

Teaser 2013 Monster Energy Yahama Motocross World Championship Team

The first round of the FIM World Motocross Championship kicks off on the 2nd March in Losail and Yamaha recently gave us a teasing glimpse of the new bikes and the new team (Steven Frossard and Joel Roelants for MX1, and Italian MX2 Champion Christophe Charlier). Apparently there will be a more detailed reveal later today so stay tuned!
